The Japanese psychedelic scene used to have many big festivals, like Solstice, Vision Quest, Arcadia, and others in the years around 2000, with crowds reaching 20,000 people. Nowadays the scene is still there but not like it used to be; however, many young psychedelic fans are starting to organize great parties and there are also more and more talented artists nowadays.

The concept of this compilation is to showcase Japanese psychedelic culture. For our cover art, we are using JOMON earthenware, which is a symbol of the roots of ancient Japanese psychedelic culture and art going back to around 15,000 years ago.

Japan Calling is compiled by Tsuyoshi Suzuki, who has had an almost 30-year career worldwide in this psychedelic scene, in collaboration with his worldwide management FM Booking and Future Music Records from Israel. This release includes well-known psychedelic artists from Japan: Cylon, UNI, Spectra Sonics, Rinkadink & Shivatrance, Ree.K, Funky Gong, Jikooha, and Tsuyoshi himself. In addition to original compositions by these top producers, some of the artists have produced remixes of legendary international classics, with Cylon remixing GMS's Jaws and UNI & Tsuyoshi reworking Man with No Name's hit Neuro Tunnel. Each track is a mind-bending exploration that reflects the multifaceted elements of Japanese psychedelic electronic music culture.
